“They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them to their desired haven.”

— Psalm 107:30

The death of a parent immediately brings chaos and disruption into a kid’s world. Over time, their lives eventually grow calm again, but that’s when the hard work of heart work begins. “The Haven” will be a place offering guidance, mentorship and opportunities for healing to children who have lost a parent.

To date, we’ve raised nearly $200,000 towards The Haven building project. Through our first fundraiser event in April 2023 with Corey Kent, to the 2024 Q4 Collective Way matching campaign, and all the large, lump-sum monetary gifts and consistent monthly donations in between, we’re incredibly thankful for the loyal supporters who have caught the vision for serving grieving families.

But we still need financial support as we start building Spring 2026!

Watch the video below to see how you can help fund The Haven and be a part of all that we’re doing. Plus, if you’ve seen Natalie’s one-women show, you’ll appreciate the not-so-subtle nod to a well-known infomercial from the ’80’s. smile

Q: What is the Haven?

A: It will be a place for children who have experienced the death of a parent to connect with each other and receive emotional and practical support through programs and events specially designed to help move them through their grief journey.

Q: What programs/services will you offer?

A. Man Camp is a regular gathering for boys who no longer have fathers to teach and guide them in simple tasks every man should know (i.e. how to start a lawnmower, how to change an air filter, how to throw a ball, how to shake a hand, how to treat a women, etc.). Our “Mentor Dads” have intentional, focused time training these boys to be men of upstanding character.

SHIFT is a 6-week group grief support program for children in grades 1st through 8th.

The Haven will also be a available for widows and kids to use for potluck dinners and weekend gatherings – “Where Grieving Families Connect.”

Q: Where is the Haven located?

A: Just three blocks east of Broken Halos Haven on the corner of Walters and Henrietta St. in Old Town Lewisville (Lewisville, TX 75057)

Q: What will the building feature?

A: Man Camp garage, an upstairs art studio for SHIFT activities, a 2-story indoor, spiral slide, soft & safe “rumpus room,” large bunk room, and more.

Q: How will the Haven financially sustain itself?

A: We will mainly rely on financial contributions from our generous supporters. But to help offset some of our costs, The Haven can also be rented by organizations or individuals needing indoor event space for meetings, programs, birthday parties, etc.

Your gift of any amount goes to support the continued work of Broken Halos Haven in providing hope to grieving families. Our current goal is to raise $250,000 to begin building The Haven.
